SnS powered by WifiFeed are a club bringing fast community wireless internet access to Lewes, Hastings,
Eastbourne, Chailey, Rodmell, Wivelsfield Green, Barcombe, Burwash, Laughton and
several other areas which are developing all the time!
Our latest areas to
join include Oxford, Manchester, Salford and Brussels!!
Club members are able to surf the web off any of our available WifiFeed wireless access
points, otherwise known as hotspots, for just £6.95 a month! We also have an
annual club membership rates of £69!
Setting up further community access point at your home or business with an outdoor approx
1m high aerial can cost from £20-£250, but new users can generally get
connected for between £40 and £90! If you already have a wireless enabled
card... you maybe can get on for free! We can also make our own units out of recycled pc's to keep costs low.
SnS are also founder members of OpenSourceMesh.org and along with many other similar community groups in the
UK and US are trying to develop a fully Open Source Meshing initiative.
As well as broadband at home or the office, all club members can surf freely off
any of the other SnS nodes in Sussex, Devon, Essex, Oxford and elsewhere. We cannot guarantee internet access at any given location, but as club members you have access to any of our available hotspots. Our current
map is shown on the left in the menu under coverage...
The technology works by sharing existing fast internet connections with the
community using a small aerial. We now have over 100 hotspots operational in
Sussex, Essex, Devon, Norfolk and Oxford.
We are currently looking for more community nodes and repeater nodes in many areas
including our new Oxford, Manchester and Brussels ventures. This is a
non-profit making club run by volunteers so people wanting to share their
broadband get 75% of any revenue paid by each club member they share it with.
So, share your broadband with a few users and get your own broadband for
next to nothing.
Further details will follow soon. In the meantime your thoughts and ideas
are welcomed
